Choosing an app
Do you want a scorekeeper, or a record?
There are hundreds of pickleball apps and almost all of them do one of two jobs. Knowing which job you want takes about a minute and saves you three downloads.
What a scorekeeper does
A scorekeeper lives inside the game you are playing right now. It tracks the three-number score, knows who is serving and from which side, and often calls it out loud so nobody has to remember. When the game ends, it resets and waits for the next one.
Get one of these if: you play rec games with rotating partners, you lose track of the serve, or you want your watch to announce 5–3–2 so the four of you stop arguing. They are genuinely useful and several are free. PickleRecord does not do this, and adding it is not on the roadmap.
What a record keeper does
A record keeper does not care about the current rally. It cares that you have played 47 games this season, that you win 81% of them against 3.5+ opponents, and how that compares to 30 days ago. You log the result after the game; it does the arithmetic across a season.
Get one of these if: you want to know whether you are actually improving, you play regularly enough for patterns to exist, or you have ever tried to remember your record and guessed.
Where PickleRecord sits
Not this
Live scoring · serving rotation · spoken score calls · tournament brackets · finding players near you
This
Two-tap game logging · unlimited history · win rate and current streak · 30-day comparisons · splits by session type and skill level (Pro) · wrist swing counting · Apple Health workouts · CSV export (Pro)
Three things almost nothing else does
- Swing counting from wrist motion. Your Apple Watch counts swings while you play, on-device, and discards the raw motion afterwards.
- No account, at all. Not "sign in with Apple" — no account system exists. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.
- Unlimited history on the free tier. Not 30 games, not 90 days. Every game, permanently, without paying.
We do not name competing apps here. The category is moving fast and a comparison table would be wrong within a month — which would be worse than saying nothing.
